Oral Hygiene Status in Special Needs Children

Aim: Analyze the oral health and challenges faced by children with special needs to educate them about benefits ways of maintaining good hygiene. Material Methods: 100 participants were divided into two groups: intellectually disabled physically disabled. Oral examination was done clinical parameters like plaque index (PI), hygiene index-simplified (OHI-S) organoleptic assessment done. Parents / guardians asked answer a questionnaire addressing different aspects for Data regarding factors that could impair toothbrushing also collected, including patient’s ability rinse his her mouth, capacity open mouth keep it during toothbrushing. Results: According this study, OHI-S mean value halitosis score group is less than group. Conclusion: Even though efforts have been made improve these fortunate children, there has shortfall government policies.
